Angela Griffin Loved "Baby Land," But is Ready to Return to Work
Striking a balance between work and motherhood is all about "finding what works for you," actress Angela Griffin says. Now, as she prepares to return to the set of Waterloo Road after taking time off to be with daughters Tallulah, 4 and Melissa, 13 ½-months, Angela says she's looking forward to figuring out the balancing act for herself. "When you have kids you disappear off to baby land," she says, "That's a lovely comfy place to be, but you can also drown in it."
I loved baby land. I loved spending all day staring at my girls as babies. But you have to do something for yourself as well. I used to think that sounded dead selfish but it's not. It's what keeps you sane.
Life with a 4-year-old "is taxing," Angela admits, adding that "every few weeks" Tallulah goes through "a devil phase...then is all smiles."
But four is like the new 14. I'm actually saying to her 'Don't answer me back.' I'm turning in to my mum. I'm coming out with all those pearls of wisdom like 'Because I said so.' Now I understand why.
To get herself camera-ready, Angela, 32, says she "treated losing the baby weight like a job" and shares that "breastfeeding and exercising like a demon helped." Now a size 12, Angela is happy with where she's at. "I want to live for as long as I can for my kids," she says, "It's not about being a size zero."
